A Party At Buckingham Palace
In 1971 the UK government formed the Crafts Advisory Committee (CAC) to advise ‘on the needs of the artist craftsman and to promote a nation-wide interest and improvement in their products’. Fifty years on, and the Crafts Council still has a role in advising government, and in supporting makers. It is a champion of bringing more people and a wider range of people into the craft sector, too.
So as an organisation with a cause we believe in, Keith and Marj were honoured when the Crafts Council asked them to attend a garden party hosted by King Charles at Buckingham Palace, in honour of the work of the creative industries. Other guests included Louis Theroux, Sir Ridley Scott, Margate’s own Tracey Emin, and a whole host of small arts organisations from Stoke-on-Trent.
Meanwhile, we’re two episodes into Our Welsh Chapel Dream, and the work’s well underway. Paid subscribers can see some ‘before’ photos here. What do you think of the programme so far?
